| Welcome to the web page for the Consortium for Undergraduate Law and
Justice Programs. The Consortium, formed in 2003, is an organization for
colleges and universities that have interdisciplinary programs geared
toward undergraduate education about law and justice in the United States
and internationally. The Consortium met on May 27, 2009 in Denver, Colorado (next year's meeting will be in Chicago). You can see the final program here. We thank the will be meeting at the University of Denver's School of Law for providing space for our meeting, and John Hertel for his excellent work as our local events coordinator. The Consortium met on May 28, 2008 at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Check out the program to see what we discussed. Here is 2007's detailed program. This meeting of the consortium was held on June 1-2 in Toledo, Ohio and hosted by the Program in Law and Social Thought at the University of Toledo Check out the link for faculty positions in undergraduate law and justice programs. The Consortium is a clearinghouse for information about teaching in and administering these programs. You will find links to our members' programs and teaching and advising resources for faculty and administrators. Thanks for stopping by, and let us know if there's something you'd like to see here! For more information about the consortium and its mission, see this article from the Law and Society Association's November 2004 newsletter. If you want to know why our mission is important, you can't do any better than to read Austin Sarat's article "Legal Scholarship in the Liberal Arts" from the September 2004 issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education. We welcome your comments and discussion here! | The Consortium's members meet annually, and the annual meeting is scheduled in conjunction with a professional or scholarly meeting that is of interest to the Consortium's constituent programs. Our meetings involve a lot of serious discussion about teaching law and justice. We exchange ideas and questions ranging from the most mundane nuts-and-bolts issues to big discussions about this emerging interdisciplinary field.
But it's also a chance for more informal and social interactions with a great group of interdisciplinary scholars working in this area. As noted above, we will meet in Quebec this year on May 28, 2008. Look at the information about our annual meetings above for previous meeting locations and programs.
If you are interested in having your institution join the Consortium, we encourage you to go to the page listing consortium members for more information or to contact any of our officers. Created by Julie Novkov |
